One Glass; Two Straws

Sitting within the afternoon shadows,
feeling the coolness of the breeze against my cheeks-
I glance through the tall pines in search for you,
I can almost touch your face; Feel your warm breath;

Taste your sweetness from where I am; Where you are-
When the moments are right, I can still feel your caring
hand slip about my waist, pulling me close-
Oh it’s wonderful to know you are here-

So peaceful; So serene;
The evening skies fill with color; pink, lavender and blues-
One can rest in the beauty and splendor of the season.
A sprinkle of slightly turned leaves; I brush them aside,
but never away-
They, like you allow me to turn night into day; Death into life;
and dreams into reality-
They’ve granted me hope when otherwise there would be none-
They clear my pathways, and open hand-carved rough oak doors
to a grand future-

One by one, tiny candles are lit by unseen spirits-
as night falls, they glow from the heavens,
radiating a blanket thick of gentle love-
I know I can hear your voice; For I am listening-
I can’t help but think of all the times we’ve shared dreams-
Felt the joy; the overwhelming enthusiasm as we cheered for more-
We sipped ice-cold lemonade; One glass two straws-
Once in a while, I’d reach and squeeze your hand,
and you’d smile- then return to the dream we shared

This is so alive, Lisa, it was like a scene from a movie unfolding before my eyes; you images are intense and clear and your mood soothing, longing, and perhaps even a bit bittersweet. I love this piece as you transformed me from my desk to that beautiful place, sitting on a large rock and feeling the presence of a love that outlasts time. I will be saving this, thank you Lisa, for bringing me such beautiful mood.

Take care,

Sherry

Wonderful . . . wonderful, Lisa. You are one poet that can "get" me with almost every poem you write.

Why do my emails to you keep getting sent back?

Lisa,

This is exquisitely tender, moving poetry of regret? loneliness? Missing a passed loved one? I felt this one deep in my soul....powerful gift of verse, beautifully illustrated in word and graphic.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
