Southern Horizons

Mirrored reflections; Pieces of me-
Portrayed in the shadows, as what,
Just what could; Might be-
Maybe if the light fell, just right?
The moon shone across the water; On
a bright, clear summer’s night?
What if? Oh what if?
I stopped floating beneath the
surface?
Rising up; Standing up; Lifting
up my eyes; Facing
the light?

Oh self; Isn’t hiding for the accused?
The need to not be seen? The fear
of being abused?
Peeking from the curtain’s hem-
As a bashful, shy little girl-
A child afraid; A woman that self-doubts;
Oh Lady of words; Tell me? Tell me true ?
What’s that really all about?

Naked; Bare as the babe first born-
Sheer terror; As the layers
were ripped and torn-
Voices came in whispers low-
As the light flooded in; And the
warmth began-
As I touched the face of me-
Said goodbye, and let go-

I’ll miss you; Oh I’ll miss you so;
A tear holding steady, in the
corner of my eye-
You were my lap of comfort; My
shoulder in need-
You hand fed me; Rocked me; Cradled
and nurtured this seed-
I’ll miss you; Oh, I’ll miss you so-
Soon the tear will fall,
and a new yearling will grow

As it may be confusing; Ah but just
for a while-
For Southern Horizons was just a reflection;
A mirrored image of self-
It’s I, that I’ve longed for;
It’s for I, that I’ve reached-
And in the light of a new dawn-
I’ve put doubt on the shelf

I knew something was going on. That's why I never heard from you from the emails I have written. Finding yourself is the best day you can ever have.

"Southern Horizons"
Lisa, this is stunningly beautiful!
Introduction enjoyable subliminal underlying strength in the character. Self awareness, this story uncoiled with anew, a wonderful freshness of character realization.
"Southern Horizons" carries the reader upon every line and sits one down softly. This work is simply exquisite, Lisa. What a wonderful sharing I thank you.

Sincerely,
From the Heart of an Artist Quiet Storm

Oh Lisa this is brilliantly done and so very intense, I feel your yearning, your passion, your new found belief in yourself and the way you have overcome past obstacles because your heart is true and strong. This like Sherry says is excellant, poetry at it's very best.

This is such an empowered write, Lisa. I am in awe and also a bit stricken by the boldness of your words and your strength of self in being able to just put it all out here for the rest of us to see into your most private spaces. This is introspective, this is strong and this is hope in its truest sense. This may now be my favorite of yours. Excellent writing!
Take care,
Sherry
