Poem of a lost love.

COLD STEEL EYES

Mist rises over the Golden Gate
As I wander through my broken dreams
Moments suspended in time
The sun and the moon
Woven yarn of golden threads
Threads of shimmering light
Deep green eyes, soft lips
Weeping willows in the oasis of time.
Boundless charisma of your love
Held my heart to a trickle
To the love song
To trolley rides
And the majestic Orient
As only you and I remember.

And then how it all changed
That changed your heart to stone.
Come with your cold, steel eyes
With sharp knives
Into labyrinth of my heart.
On the full moon
The howl of cold winds
Through the narrow passages
Freezes the flower of tenderness
That once swayed in the warmth of your love.

Do not touch the frozen tundra
Your soft hands may bleed
The sky may shatter
And the stars may crumble to dust.
The glow of warm sun
That once smiled
Through the drops of crimson dew
The essence of your beauty
Gathered through the ages
In the reflections of my eyes
It is only mine.

The steel of your once soft eyes
The icicle of your smile
Heart of stone and rubble
Drives a cold knife through the aftermath of love
Lost in the Oriental beads and baths
In the frenzy of your kisses
In the mists of Giradelli.
These are my shattered dreams
As the shadow of worldly designs
And your new loves
Ploughs cold steel of your soft eyes
Through the thousand pieces
Of my gasping bloodstream
Thirsty for warmth of love.
But then there is cold steel
Knives, stone and rubble
Of your once soft eyes.

Depth and angst of lost love, portrayed beautifully.
The title fits well.

"Cold Steel Eyes" what a wonderful expression although about a lost love. "The steel of your once soft eyes
The icicle of your smile
Heart of stone and rubble
Drives a cold knife through the aftermath of love"
What shivers, it gives a painful imagery and account of a lost love that so frequently happens.
Thank you for sharing this poem Harbhajan!

Hauntingly sad, but wonderfully vivid. Love "weeping willows in the oases of time." Phyllis:) {PS: Did you mean to type labyrinth?}

Harbhajan...this was so good! What a penetrating write about a condition a lot of us suffer. Bill Murray
