Spiritual Wisdom Taught Without Words

When I was in the twenties I worked with adults and children who had profound disabilites. I was thinking of them today.

Laughing as I come through the door

She greets me with her heart

Unable to speak

yet saying much

Her eyes follow me

and her gaze touches my soul

She seems to see what

most people miss

She sees the light within me

She sees my true self

Unable to feed herself, talk,

walk, or use her hands

she teaches much

about spiritual wisdom and love

God bless those who work with people who have such severe special needs!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :D

Wonderful poem, Cindy! (I think of them all the time, which is why I write about them.)

I can relate from both viewpoints. After my Army life I spent three years in a wheel chair. Not far from here is a State hospital where people in wheel chairs and more are treated. I visited there for years as a volunteer. You get as much out of it as you give.
Great write.
God bless,
Lew

I can relate to this, love to see handicapped people trying to be well and enjoy life. It's a shame we cannot do more for them.
