Some drugs are good for us all!

HUGS AND HORMONES

Two drugs not promoted on the World Wide Net

Are the best ones of all, and neither’s a threat.

You can be a dispenser of two wonder drugs.

Oxytocin and cortisol are unleashed by hugs.

These hug-hatching hormones put to good use

Provide loving actions that need no excuse.

A sense of connection is good for us all

From infants to seniors, from dawn to nightfall.

Human contact induces good health and well being;

Less fat in your tissues, less glucose, less protein.

Eye contact and cuddling are best when robust.

Both drugs help with memory, attachment and trust.

I sense you’re reluctant, you ol’ “fraidy cat”.

These are facts that I’m stating. You can trust me on that.

Depression and loneliness both disappear

When I hug you and whisper, “I cherish you, dear”.

Touching, accepting, safety and pleasure

In a three-second hug is “feel good” we can measure.

Your built-in hug partner may well be a pet.

Every hug helps. You give and you get.

So silence your cellphone. Stop tweeting and such.

Shed streamers of sadness. You’ll benefit much.

You’ll help people realize that life is so short

There’s no time for being an old worrywart.

So get up and get started. Don’t try to play coy.

Hug out those hormones. It’ll bring your life joy.
