A Special Season

Some time ago, in the earliest of spring,
I looked on your face and discovered one thing;
the stumbling words I sometimes employ
would somehow pass and I'd know the joy
of the passions behind the angelic face,
as you subtlely tempted me with your grace.

In such short time I found that I knew
what brought us together, both me and you;
was a common bond that seemed to thread
its way between us through what was said.
By acts of fate our lives were changed;
routines were altered, schedules rearranged.

Our time together, though not very long,
was warm and relaxed, the moments were strong.
The drives that we'd take and the places we'd see
are locked in my mind, and that's where they'll be.
I draw from these memories every once in a while
and think of your face, your hair and your smile.

I'll be right here in this place to the west,
doing my job and offering my best.
In the few times I have nothing to do,
I might pick up my coffee and think about you.
I even may wonder how nice it would be
if you entertained the notion of calling for me.

That option's still open, (for the back of your mind)
these types of choices are the most difficult kind.
No matter your decision, whatever you choose,
your request will be honored and no one will lose.
Now, look forward to the future, whatever it is.
Glance back to the past and reminisce.

The thoughts of you will remain in my mind
where I can reach up and touch them from time to time.
Thinking back now, how my spirit was heightened,
I have no regrets, for it's my life that was brightened.
And if ever you have the urge or a whim,
you can say to yourself, "I thought about him."
