Pain
It was painful for both of us—
My mom and me.
Her pain ended the moment
I was born, but mine started.
It was painful for both of us—
Me and my wife.
Her pain ended when she died
Mine got added.
It was painful for both of us—
My daughter and me.
She was different, I too was.
Hers would soon end and
Mine will go on
It was painful for both of us—
My friend and I.
We added to pain, expecting
Much from world and each other.
She went her way and I, mine.
It was painful for both of us—
Me and my memory.
Unlike all others it did not leave me.
It brings my mom, wife, dad, friends,
Dead and alive, to me often.
It was painful for both of us—
Me and my body.
I was youthful as I was born
But the body aged and pain became life.
The creaking cage craves no more
For craving is another pain, like love.
It was painful for both—
My relatives and friends.
No more painful for me
Happily lying on the pyre.
Real and made-up tears
Nourishing the ground.
