'Kissed him and he started floating'

Poem Artwork

When he looked into her hazel eyes

There was enough love for him and

everybody else – deeper and deeper

he went; was more and more to see.

It was all too much for him to take

He had been burned one to many

times – the romance that she was

showing was dull to the touch.

But she knew what to do, so she

Kissed him and he started floating

down a polluted stream – had no

paddle, was literally up the creek.

Made no difference to her for now she

Had him in the palms of her manipulating

hands – was sharp to the touch; took him

apart piece by excruciating piece.

Sailed with him on love’s slippery slope

He was so doped up on broken promises he

didn’t know which way was up – with her

killer looks, his goose was cooked.

Then, somehow he mustered up the strength

Reached right in and pulled out her heart

it was hinged in the middle – he threw it

on a love letter; one from him to her.

Grabbed her little black book, made a few

Calls to lovers who had been tossed to the

waste-side – all came over to stomp on her

heart; now she resides with Lucifer.

Oh Lance,
This one is RAGING! I have seen people like that..and they scare me.
They seem to gain strength from those actions of deceit.
Run, far away, fast!

Lance, This masterfully written poem is truly gripping..one can feel the emotion...as when one has been swallowed hook, line and sinker...though with might and determination this one got away and made sure that no one will ever be swallowed again. Excellent write!

Wow - quite an ending. She won't be cooking anyone else's goose now.

Hello Robert,

Wonderfully engaging in its intense and vivid revenge- but the poem is a masterpiece on the vagaries of love, deceit, and the sad awakening that most of us experience after recovering from the drunken stupor of ecstasy. (Silly blind hearts!!!)

But none the less...WOW!! Fantastic Write!
Yeah! I especially loved:

it was hinged in the middle – he threw it
on a love letter; one from him to her.”

I love it how we all (us poets here :-) think every poem is centered in our own experience. Perhaps you have been burned as penned and exhult in the descimation of the culprit whom you've consigned to hell (now resides with Lucifer) but I wonder if this poem may be generalized to include all deceitful, callous lovers?

You surely do pack a punch my friend :-)
Hope 2009 yields harmonious relationships and happy returns for you and yours,

Best,
Linda

Most unusual and surprising ending. Had me going there, the mischievous wraith. The mechanical force in foot-lbs per second per second required of pulling out a beating hinged-heart not withstanding, this poem does offer an interesting alternative to breaking-up or divorce. What's next for this poet De Jour?
