To all those who kindly have declared a poet me, you know who you are:

 the Old Masters of Authors' Den

A poet, you say?
Why, I am no poet on any day;
rather, I am a poet-aster,
an inferior rhym-ester—
who doodles with word play.
Now, I agree a writer I hail,
spinning yarns and weaving tales:
fact and fantasy, though little pay.

A poet, you say?
Why, come with me on any day;
Authors Den reveals Old Masters,
not one a poet-aster—
who dabbles in word play.
Many there be, but I name only a few;
Peggy, Eileen and even Sue:
heart and soul, though little pay.

There is Karla, Karen and Pat,
whose rhymes are juicy and fat;
Lowell, George, Andre and Bhuwan,
all the ladies hearts have they won.
Ah, and La Belle, the little brat,
with a bee in her bonnet:
buzzing with truth in a sonnet.
They are poets spilling hearts on paper mat.

Oh, I cannot name them all,
though each should stand tall;
for they weave beautiful tapestries,
full of love, secrets and mysteries,
spun from ups and downs, successes and falls:
all from the yarn of meaningless words.
They take flight like colorful birds,
A precious message in each call.

A poet, you say?
Why, I am no poet on any day;
knowing neither sonnet nor ode
or other poetic secret code.
To the ins and outs I say,
Why, what is a quatrain?
On one track four trains?
See now why I receive no pay?
