Sweet child of youth in flight,
passing quickly each day and night;
all too soon forgotten pure innocense,
running free, caring not for sense.
An untamed wind blowing free,
so anxious a woman to be;
youth so unaware of the strife
in the ups and downs of life.

Suddenly, without warning, youth is gone;
still, for happiness she does long:
an untamed wind long since died,
and many tears she has cried.
So eager, now a woman she is,
but still longing for arms of bliss:
sigh of youth wondering what went wrong,
knowing the answer in youth since gone.

Wild wind tamed, lessons well learned,
through pain and heartache--
richly earned;
now a woman with innocense of a child,
in mind, obeying all the while.
True love of youth comes her way,
green meadows and blue skies make her day;
soft, cool breezes bring silently a sigh,
the woman of youth so content and blithe.
