You came into my life

Before I even met you.

Given all we’ve been through

I never will forget you.

We meet as strangers,

We leave as friends.

We call each other family

When our meeting ends.

All the forms of nature

Attest we’re all God’s creatures.

We’re all each other’s students.

We’re all each other’s teachers.

We try to live with good intention.

Sometimes we fall or stumble.

Sometimes we remember to forgive.

Sometimes we remember to be humble.

To link our hearts together

Creates a reservoir of strength.

It serves each life that’s lived,

Regardless of its length.

I thank you for your lesson.

I thank you for your voice.

Your decision to join my journey

Was an inspired choice.

Life is a series of ups and downs,

The journey peppered by stops and starts.

We walk through each other’s lives

Leaving footprints on each other’s hearts.
