I held you as you breathed
watching your body taste everything.
All the fears you had
wrapped in a blanket,
you took comfort
in the sound of my beating heart.
I held you close, understanding
in that moment. Everything I had become
would walk in a different pair of shoes
a different set of dreams.
I sat at the table
with lawyers and legal papers.
Anger hid in the words of compromise.
Note: this is yet unfinished just like the relationship I have with my children.

divorce is definitley unsettling and painful, especially how it relects upon the relationship of our children... compromise may be the only solution...
