Dedicated to the memory of Raymond,
our next door neighbours little boy
who tragicly passed away a week before
Christmas 2006.
Our prayers go to his Mother.

He was just a child, a little boy,

Not even two years old,

The world was still a mystery,

His life yet to unfold,

His universe existed in,

His mothers arms and smile,

How cruel that fate should turn it’s hand,

On such a little child,

Would he have grown to be someone,

Had he had time to grow?

Or been the savior of all mankind?

Alas we’ll never know,

For tragedy befell him,

Before he could make his mark,

And a new star lights the heavens,

His memory, our hearts,

It’s hard for us to understand,

Why Raymond had to go,

But the good lord in his mercy,

Had his reasons I suppose,

Perhaps the world in which we live,

Was not a fitting place,

And so took Raymond to his side,

Safe in the lords embrace,

Whatever reason for our loss,

His work on earth is done,

He made the world a brighter place,

Brought joy to everyone,

And though his passing cuts our hearts,

More deeply than a blade,

And his time with us was far too short,

His memory remains,

His cheeky smile, his sparkling eyes,

His laughter while at play,

All priceless treasures in our minds,

God bless and keep you Ray.

You brought tears to my eyes with this tender poem, Steve. This is so very well done, touching in it's loving thoughts, and like Kay said below, this will bring comfort to Ray's family. I do hope you give them a copy of it. Exceptional work, exceptional.
Love,
CJ
