The gifts I wish for you
I cannot give to you,
for these were given long ago.
The gifts I wish for you
I cannot claim for you
for these are labeled with your name,
and have been waiting for you,
even before your birth.
The gifts I wish for you
I cannot force you to accept,
for every soul has the freedom
and the responsibility of
choosing his own destiny.
My Christmas wish for you
is that you will reach out
and take the gifts He offers
to each of us.
His Love, so great that He gave
His Son, who took our sins to
The Cross, and shed
His Blood for
Forgiveness of every sin
from the past and those yet to be.
His Grace, so that all who come to Him
in Faith will have
Joy, Peace, and Everlasting Life.
In reaching out and taking these gifts
into your heart,
You will have Jesus,
the Greatest Gift of all.
Lovely poem! Your initial lines in the first stanzas are so perfectly expressive, and I can hear a mature voice speaking here. I'm not a poet, but I do like this. :-) God bless your further work!
