We sit on the sidelines...watching
What can we do, if we would that is
It's so common place now
The destroying of our nature
Maybe we have become unaffected by it all

Not I...Not I...
I cry as I watch the last of the rain forrests go
The animals that live there
Have a home no more
Where do they go now
There is nowhere for them
They are alone and uncared for

Where will our air come from
Once all the trees are gone
No tall pines that reach the sky left
They have all fallen to progress
More and more buildings built
More and more space used needlesslly

Why not use what is not being used
Buildings sitting unused on used land
But we must have better
Take that bear, rabbit and squirrels home too
They don't need it
We should have it

Fill our air with more polution
We have to have that bigger truck
Use more gas
Hey..why not
We don't need to breath
Forget our children and grandchildrens futures

See that Jaguar..We need a new coat
We must look our best you know
That Elks head would look great hanging
on our wall
That Elephants dead,
we needed his tusk for Ivory
We must have our sport
We'll kill that beautiful tiger for fun

Driving down the road there
are so many perished
Hit by our cars because our progress
has driven them out
Deer, Skunks, Armidillo and rabbits
A fox here and there
Their young left alone, defenseless
and starving

Where does it end
When do we care
When is it time to say enough
When do we realize that our endless wants
Destroy and kill all that is needed, good,
beautiful and innocent
The air, the trees, the wild
Does not have our greed
Why do we let it all slide by

   If I as one person could change the world, I would in a heart beat. I am an extreme activist and find that I make no difference at all. It is sad and maddening, frustrating. I wrote an article on this the other day. And I write the government all the time and am a member of many groups and it all seems for naught.
