Note:
Some of the responses I have recieved from this poem has led me to believe that I should make a note for people, so that they know what is and isn't.

I do not live with my husband any longer. I do not love him and have not for a very long time. It's kind of hard to love someone who is a monster. My problem is the effects from the abuse. My mind frame is messed up from the abuse not the fact that "oh my god, the man I love has left me". The main problem comes from the mental abuse. I have survived it for 16 yrs and after so long...you can only take so much. I am use to being judged, for not leaving him for not being stronger and so on. People don't choose this kind of life. You get what you are dealt. You do the best you can with it. And hope you survive. I would hope that people can understand the abuse process. What happens to a person who is abused. If not I feel for you. Read my blog if you need to know what everything is about. It's a sad long story, worthy of a great book.
These are my feelings of despair in this poem. Of giving up. Of being called a piece of shit one to many times.

There is no more fight
My heart has given up
He always gets away with it anyways
As I cry my mind repeats his words
'I am a piece of shit'
There is no more of me
He ripped me bare
He will go on as though I never existed
All the abuse never happened
As I lay dieing
I was wrong
 There is no surviving you
It is my end

Makes one ask...
"so why are you there? Does a house have to fall on you?"

Perhaps your work can reach them when their own common sense fails?

This poem is filled with such pain and anguish it is palpable. I know that when one has survived an abusive relationship, it is hard to imagine going on and finding happiness but it can and does happen if you allow yourself to believe. The important thing is to find love for yourself and stand tall to face the world. You are not the words that have been spoken to you. You are a unique human being with special gifts of your own. Go out and offer them to the world and find love again.
