Descending shadows mask light,
for day is far behind.
Voices murmur like a heartbeat,
bound inside the shallow earth.
Skies are swollen red.
Mouths are tightly sewn.
Nothing left to feel,
in these petrified remains.
Thoughts escape to ruin,
for reason has no place here.
Sorrow sweeps away the dust,
from savaged and worn bones.
How wearily I trek now,
with a spent and ravaged heart.
For some shall walk forever,
on this deserted, hellish ground.
