Don't Follow the Leader

Sometimes we have to take a stand even if we're the only ones who know it.

Don’t Follow the Leader

When did the world become such an unhappy place?

Did it happen so slowly that I didn’t take note?

Or was it a quick change that required my vote?

I’m not sure which was the case,

But I don’t like the changes and the result

So I’m staging a mini revolt.

I will no longer follow the crowd.

I will no longer remain a silent coward.

I may not be able to change the things that already are,

But I can alter things that are yet to be.

I can set myself up for victory.

That the world cannot mar.

By remembering when I was me

A me who didn’t believe in failing

Who never even considered bailing

No matter how high the fee.

I won’t be staging any parades,

Or distributing cookies and lemonades

I just quietly refuse to bow to the pressure

And allow myself to enjoy my freedom   with pleasure

Always stand for what you believe in no matter what others try to do to change your mind.

LOVE this poem Bobbi, it reflects a soul who has fought for and won freedom. So good to see you again.

I have had a lot of changes lately, but kept to myself. Sometimes I just have to do that because not everyone would have the same empathy to what I am feeling, and I really don't expect them to. I'm not one who would seek sympathy from others, simply because not everyone would give it.
