I Know
I can think of no feeling worse than knowing
You have outlived your usefulness.
All my life I have had direction, purpose, and objective.
Always considering myself blessed.
Now, in my twilight years
I have nothing to do but be reflective.
Every mistake I’ve made,
Now haunts my waking and sleeping hours
Each good memory I have,
The Ghost of the past devours.
Taunting me with eternal peace
And eternal rest;
I have to fight to overcome
Each of these evil tests.
I don’t know how much longer I can
“Hold the Fort,” alone.
So, I turn to God often
And beg him for release
From these demons
Whose attacks never cease.
I know that he is my salvation
Both now and evermore
I know that to my very core.

I wish you could be gentler on yourself...we are human, and do the best we can, but we make mistakes...
A loving God forgives .. always...that is your comfort,,,
It is also possible to change your thoughts in an instant...
Best wishes,
Diana...
