I believe she describes herself.
Dirty Mary Dirty Mary stands forlorn, alabaster guardian, forgotten, marking the slumbering life beneath her feet. Grime outlines her once-lovely features, contrasts her stone-cold skin. No one notices the forgotten hollow assigned to her watchful care. Come Spring, they'll notice, when life bursts forth from dampened loam, exciting colors beneath her gaze. Then warmth will dry the filthy etchings, as they fall free into the wind, and she will be clean again. Redeemed -- for yet another season. DWD 07
