An ode to all those suffering this awful disease, my Father and Mother both suffered
Come on legs do as I say Don’t wander off your own sweet way I want to go forward to get to the door But you want to shuffle and shuffle some more Talking about mind over matter I always used to incessantly natter Now my mouth is stiff and hollow I find it difficult to even swallow My hands have an involuntary shake Every hour that I’m awake Feeding me is almost impossible When they try, I frequently dribble My children come to see me, but don’t know what to say So, they chat about all sorts and then they go away Leaving me frustrated to face it on my own God, I wish Parkinson’s would leave me alone This disease has become a bane But I’ll try to walk again Try again to get to the door Whilst my feet shuffle and shuffle some more © Tony Channing 2005

My Grandmother has Parkinson's. She's managed to hang on for several decades but it's been a very big struggle in recent years. This is a very dignified write. I agree with Nordette. Bless you. Michelle

I salute you for your determination! No illness is easy in life, some, like what you have is harder than others, but it all takes perseverence and a willingness to keep on keeping on, no matter what anyone else says or does, just so we cna be at peace with ourselves. I suffer from a differnt illness, but it all comes down to what we choose to do about it. I'm glad you have chosen to do your best... Thanks for sharing. Eileen

i guess this is a good lesson to children, we need to spend more time with our elderly and sick parents or friends, maybe we can give them some peace

I often worked with the residents in the nursing home that suffered from Parkinson's and found that they would get very frustrated at this disease but then they would come back and really inspire me. This is a well written poem about this disease.
