Poem Artwork

September in England is where I should be

Mist rolling over the hills to a tranquil sea

English country gardens still in full bloom

The sweet smell of Roses fills every room

Misty mornings, balmy nights

The last of the summer’s delights

Cricket on the village green

Soon will not be seen

September on the cusp of summer

Autumn is a different drummer

Its tune is wild with windy days

Saying goodbye to summer’s haze

England has such temperate climes

Trips to the sea in holiday times

A country surrounded by sea

In September, it’s where I should be

Nice poem. I've never been to the UK, but now I'd like to see the place.

Thanks Tony. It makes me miss England. (I grew up there, but live in Australia now. I miss green, and those lovely English country gardens!)

This is so lovely, makes me want to see the UK in the autumn, my favorite time of the year in New York- I've only seen the UK in spring and summer, but I think it would be beautiful all year round.

September anywhere would be charming for me but this poem is rather quaint and has a charm of its own.
