Sated

I awoke to the scent of wisteria wafting through the open window, reminding me of a another time; a time that held so many fond memories... realizing it was just a remnant of the past, a scent from years ago, that had slipped into my dreams; I close my eyes once again.

You come to me, your eyes naked with emotion, a friend who knows your soul because we have shared it; even though it has been divided within our two bodies by time and space...

We walk down memory's lane, remembering how is was back then, wishing... but, you can't turn back time. You want to understand how life can take such a cruel turn; how you can awaken one day and suddenly realize that you are no longer happy; that love has slowly, painfully, died through the years. Your heart that was given so freely, planted so deeply into a commitment, was left uncared for to wilt and wither in the chilled atmosphere, and now, that which you have sought for so long is almost within reach...

The brightness of the morning sun, reflects the nights haggard plight in your tired blue eyes; and a hand held right beneath your heart, shows the inward pain that is felt...

You reach out, wanting me to take away the pain... I reach out to you, with nothing to offer but empty words and a divided heart. Nothing can take away that pain which I also feel so deeply...

I have seen the truth in your troubled eyes; your pain evident, even in your smile... I see too, the fear of what tomorrow may bring; and draw you close, wanting to hold you, if only for a moment; needing to ease your pain; but standing to lose so much of my own. The emptiness of loss, causing a deep void within the pit of my soul...

Your lips seek mine in our moment of weakness; the hunger of a heart left unfed, needing to be held, and love returned.

I can hear your heartbeat, my head against your chest; feel your warm breath on my face and my resolve melts, in the heat of our souls union. An indigenous heart, secluded in its confinement; I raise my eyes to meet your stare and my lips seek yours, our soul soaring to heights were eagles dare; now, fully sated…

This touched me deeply with memories of past love and divorce.
I sometimes come to a juncture where I just see this path of thought, and I know what power is down there somewhere...
But she ended us, and I must pass it by...again.
Stay safe, stay well.

John

Sunrise of Thought by Bruce Humphrey

Welcome! The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help. Beautif
