Time to part from these walls old friend,
What stories you can tell.
The legends of lives lived and spent,
Now time to bid farewell
I hear laughter in the hallway
And sobbing on the stairs;
Shadows that have had their day
Eras passing by, unawares.
Roses in the garden stand uniformed in bloom;
Memories made on piano keys
Of the old baby grand in tune.
The chiming of the grandfather clock marks moments such as these.
The pitter patter of little feet,
A new welcome in this home;
New life in old haunts compete
A scattering of wooden toys on floors thrown.
A blank canvas of life lies ahead.
New beginnings to paint and draw,
So this leaves me with this question instead:
Is this really goodbye like before?
