A Christmas Poem

A Star is Watching

A Star, surrounded by a wave of fleeting clouds, watches over a child.

His mother's hair is stirred by a breeze, gentle and mild.

She watches over her newborn asleep in the hay, lovingly with a soft smile.
As the cold wind blows through their safe haven for awhile.

The wind sends her chills as she picks up her son and swaddles him in her clothes tight.
While the glowing star's illumination bathes both Mother and child in this lean-to home in a soft shimmering light.

Now down from the sky a mystical and magical pallet of colors shines bright.
While the baby sleeps in his mother's arms through the night.

As night turns to day,
the star slips away.
It escapes elusively to a magnificent retreat in the clouds on high.

Leaving us to wonder who this Mother and child are?
Alone in this lean-to home and
why?
