Just a few weeks ago, I heard you were on your way.

I couldn’t wait till that precious day.

I couldn’t wait to see your face.

I couldn’t wait to hold you close, try my best to keep you warm, sing you songs, wipe away the tears, and tell you, “Daddy’s here, everything will be ok.”

Just a few days ago, I found out that was not to be.

I will never see your face, or hold you close on this side of eternity.

But I know you’re safe in the arms of Jesus, and he’s holding you closer than I ever could.

As hard as it is for me to imagine, he loves you more than I ever would.

My silly songs now there is no need to sing.

Now you are singing the songs of our mighty God and King.

I will never wipe away your tears, because you will never cry.

You will never know this world stained by sin; you will never need to ask him why.

God always has a reason, and a purpose, though sometimes it’s hard to see.

But I rejoice and thank him now, because the day when I see your face, is just one more reason…One more reason for eternity…
