Who are you talking about,
do you even really know?
You can't say that he's responsible
for the distance that I go.
You can't give the credit,
to someone who can't exist,
he who denies us the proof,
yet you believe in these stories of his.
Who is this wonderous, brilliant being?
Who will save me in the end?
Now he's let me fall so far, just let me fall down,
and has given me wounds he can't mend.
If he's so pure, and if he's so great,
why does he let me cry so?
I refuse to believe that he gave us all life
when he takes it back before we know.
How could he give me the hope that I have,
when all I've got so far is pain,
I won't be afraid of this God, whom you preach
gave me everything I attained.
I earned the things I got,
I learned an awful lot,
I saw beyond the sun
I saw through everyone.
I didn't fall into,
the traps that I was meant to,
I saw past all the stories
and now I know greater glories.
Everything that I've seen,
all the places I've been,
I got this into my head.
Your Glorious God is dead.
I liked your poem, Charlotte. I like the way you think for yourself in spite of the peer pressure to grab a Bible. I have a slightly different take, but that's me.

Brittany, thanks for your review, I'm grateful, but you're missing the point of my poem, it's MY opinion, it's how I feel, it's not a question. I really have no urge to find God. I'm atheist. I only need myself, that's all this poem is about.
"You can't say that he's responsible
for the distance that I go. "
This is the most important line. It's meaning that I made myself what I am, not God.

The answer to your poem: read the book of Job in the Bible. It explains a TON of questions that people ask. I really recommend (sp?) the teen ones that explain it, otherwise you'll be ticked and won't know what happened! LoL. Otherwise, great poem to describe such a universal feeling for the world. A feeling that some deny and a feeling that some publicise, looking for an answer. This was a good write Charlotte!
Happy Christmas!
