I'm having conversations
With the only one that seems to understand me,
I try to stumble on intellectual redemption;
I speak of ancient prophecies,
All the world's atrocities,
The maybe's and the probablies;
And on the night when I last saw her
She was desperately craving independence,
So I'm sitting here tonight, quietly thinking about the past
In maddened crazy raging sort of way,
And having conversations with the only one that never goes away;
So I'm sitting in this rathole bar
Appearing like a fallen star
That used to burn a hole right through the midnight sky;
But now I'm just a battered rock; broken and defenseless,
Hoping for a chance again to fly,
And having conversations with the only one that never says goodbye.
