A survivor so persistent
endures when others seem so weak
To frailty they are resistant
fortitude makes them unique

Their tenacity chides dissension
while others will resist the strife
They exhibit true reflection
while others flounder though their life

Stamina lingers through affliction
Giving strength for them to tarry
Others fall to tribulation
wondering and deeply wary

What makes them so resilient
staying there until the last
While all others lost their brilliance
clinging on so hard and fast

This sole survivor hanging on
Could it be that you do now know
The last small leaf the tree does don
preparing for the winter snow
