With an oh and an ouch,
I raise my body from the couch.
With a crack and a snap,
I get up from my nap.
With a spirit so willing I should be ready to go,
But my aching body would rather lay low.
Walking up stairs once so easy, but now,
If I climb one flight I take a small bow.
Some days it is all I can do to awake,
But I think of the difference I could make.
Perhaps on this day I could reach for the sky,
and help someone who has more problems than I.
God may have some reason to keep me around.
I may share a look or even a sound,
with someone who has lost all their hope.
A person who is unable to cope.
So when I awake and feel depressed,
I still get up and get myself dressed.
One more day gives me a chance,
To make someone happy or make someone dance.
It is my choice after all,
Do I lift them up or let them fall.
