This poem was written shortly after 09-11, to honor the men and women (Police, Fire & EMS) who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect us and the men and women Dispatchers work work behind the scene.
I call them friend,
They're all over the world,
They are nameless as they've always been
Protecting every man, woman, boy and girl.
Some are in the public view,
Some sit behind desk and answer phones too.
They risk their lives and make it safe for me and you,
They are the men and women dressed in black and blue.
Since nine eleven they have been in the public's eye.
The pain and the sorrow that flashed that caused me to sigh.
Some were fallen and some stood tall,
They've been called some of the bravest of them all.
They consist of Dispatchers, Policemen, Firemen and Medical Technicians, to name a few.
With one common goal; to protect and to serve me and you.
So next time you see one shake his hand, thank him for a job well done.
His pay is not great and he'll be there come rain or sun.
