Seminal

No moment more momentous
by speed or slow accretion
by shock or gradual realization
is there

No knowledges sudden thuds
No hard-earned understandings
No towering wave crashing
is there

No heart-rending fears
No Saddened Flowers greater than
Innocence's First Realization
and Sight of Evil in This World

Because the child
thinks all the world
is innocent too

Some never recover
Some Bite Bitter Pills
Some become Evil's Consorts
Some stand aloof
Some divert themselves with private amusements
pretending not to see
Some blame other innocents
Others retreat in a void they create
to mask the shock

By these are worlds created, lost and gained
millions thereby alive or dead
souls drained, maimed or defamed
by these
a planet dead, revived or made alive again
or gone, billions of Walking Dead
billions named and unnamed
all decided
in Innocence's
Meddle
when confronted by the Face of Evil.

To each is given this moment
child most
some of us remember
or resolve
in this moment most
others have forgotten
but for all
lives hereby are defined
and the rest is the living out
in this
Innocence-Evil Meme.

I'm not sure about evil, but temptation alone gives me fits.
This is a very profound assessment, Lonnie. My brain sorts slowly
these days.

Yes, Ron you are correct. But many do and simply can't take the shock of and avoid it the rest of their lives.. It is so shocking to a child.

Very vivid and riveting. First revelation.

I don't recall it ever happening to me. We live in a rough neighborhood with rough talking people. By the age of seven, I clearly knew what evil was and how to avoid it.

Kind A SLOw In The Kootenays v2.2 by RickthePoetWarrior

Has-beens and coffee get together to recreate a same old new tourist trap in a land even the First Nations don't want.

On the Edge of Words by Debra Kraft

Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
