33 trapped between slabs of rock in a bowl

Only contact with outside world is through a narrow slim air hole

Dark and black as the miner’s copper product they dig like coal

Loved ones holding hope up on the surface, freedom for the confined their goal

Will take months, the longest on record to rescue the underground surrounded souls

Helpers send food, water, and supplies with the use of a long pole

Music drifts through the dry air from the family camp knoll

As long as we continue the way of the old, preventable accidents will always take hold

We must evolve to a cleaner green energy source to make the wheels turn without pollution and move a more smoothly roll

It will take a major change in our daily lifestyle to defeat the global dirty troll

But in the long run there will be no more trapped or dead miners and our earth will be much more beautiful and whole…
