The ordinary perception of space and time
Falls mainly into the most familiar
Of common place motifs and such
Again and again we are persuaded
Of being at the edge of another world
In place of the familiar we confront the ultimate vision
Which no longer obtains in our mind
We make a casual contact
With a rational world, transforming eternal structures
With our ancestors in continuous time
Almost to the limits of the material world
To pay homage to the elders
Who are more spirit than substance.
this reminds me of a book i just read, "of water and spirit", by a gentleman named patrice malidoma some', who is from burkino faso, i believe. i also believe you've barely scratched the surface, here, yet illuminated the barest outlines of the true reality, just beneath the surface. wisdom drop, poet.
really liked the last line ..."more spirit than substance" ... how true that is, and also how that line contradicts itself ... this "spirit" *is* in fact more substantial than we think, even though we can't physically see or touch it.
