I wrote this poem to one of my best friends at a time in my life when another friend turned out to be someone I didn't know she was. Honesty is one of the most important traits I feel anyone should have. Through this situation I was able to see a little clearer who was honest with me and who was not. This poem is flowing from my pain of a loss of a friend and thankfulness for the friend I did have.
“ Friendship” What A word.
A word that is too easily passed around.
What is friendship anyways? Is friendship something easily found?
I thought I had a friend once, but lies pulled it apart.
I thought I had a friend once, but it ended from the start.
I thought I had a friend once, but hear my broken heart.
So what is friendship I ask? Can it be so hard to find?
Should it feel like such a task, to find a friend to share my mind?
A friend should be there when your down, to hold your hand
& pull you off the ground.
A friend should love no matter the weather, cause we all get emotional & need to stick together.
A friend should enjoy the same things as you,
To laugh & to share the old & the new.
Oh, how a friend like this would be so nice,
but at what the cost & at what the price.
For a friend should be honest & a friend should be true …
Oh my I just realized” that friend is YOU”
Your there when I’m down, you lift me to my feet.
You like what I do, we both like to eat!
You are always honest & always true .
My hunt is now over, for I have a friendship with you!
You are the best friend that I have ever had,
& forever you will be through the good & the bad.
So is a good friendship something easily found?
NO, But with God’s love he sent you around.
That hard to find friendship has been here from the start,
Behind these words lies such disappointment and such joyful realization! Touching sentiments. True friendship is indeed difficult to find in our 'hectic times.' I'm glad you have that special friend.
