Rings of fire

Another poem inspired by the Olympics

Poem Artwork

Rings of fire

Burning brightly

The soul of the athlete

The pursuit of peace

 

We all come together

Joining hands, joining flags

Seeing the people

Dancing like flames

 

We come together

Distinct yet the same

Determined to be

One world of all

 

Some will be winners

Some will be disappointed

All will be captivated

All return home

 

The flames are extinguished

But burn brightly in the soul

Every four years, they say

But the flames never die

 

The heart of the runner

The strength of the wrestler

The grace of the gymnast

The character of them all

 

We celebrate, and return to life

To hope and dream

And carry the flames

The rings remain eternal

 

They will call to us again
