The healing trees, the leaves that whisper
about spring and summer
The healing trees know where the water is
The healing trees where lovers sit
beneath the boughs and make their vows
The oak, the ash, the willow and the pine,
all healing trees with something to teach;
Sunlight on the branches and the leaves,
to walk under their green shade is magic.
Having shimmied up and down several of those trees mentioned, with their rough bark scraping my chest and thighs, I know firsthand that hugging a tree with its different bark structures, is a healing experience without the heat of another human being or faithful dog.
