You know far more poetesses [kind of rolls off the tongue] than I. But you made me recall the poem I heard only once from a black activist poetess in the 1960s that ended with the striking phrase…
"… soon, we be dead." Illustrating the briefness of causes and the need to be urgent if progress is to be made on something like civil rights.
