Grandma snowdrop, so lovely and white
She goes to the park and the river with
A gentle smile.
She brings back memories of children
And of pretty little flowers so bright,
Of springs that were just waiting
All the while.
How many winters have come and gone,
How many have arrived and left the street
For other parts of the world?
Grandma Snowdrop slowly lingers on
To watch the young ones grow taller
To sit beside her beloved river
And watch the grass grow
Beneath her feet.
A composite all the grandmothers everywhere and their unique out work on life I remember from visiting them and their gentle hospitality.
You made me think of the appearance of Jayne Kennedy Good Morning America this morning. She was a typical white maned grandmother with a tale to tell. She said she waited until she found out how it turned out before writing her autobiography, Plain Jayne.
But she was never plain, as the first, and very vivacious and beautiful, black female announcer on the NFL Today program.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
