If I was a Standard Poodle,
I'd go on the Royal Hunt
I wouldn't fear any other,
dog around
If I was a Standard Poodle,
I'd leap over gravestones
and through gates,
I'd have lots of good mates,
canine and human
Friends from Westminster
and other Dog shows
Running in the churchyard,
off the lead,
Names of the deceased I can't read,
the grass and the earth speaking
To my wet nose.
The man with the cheerful smile,
Talking kindly to my master,
He seems to know I'm not run of the mill
Common or garden,
Knows an aristocrat when he sees one.
I think he misses a dog,
I like him patting my woolly head,
My grey coat impresses him.

My brother bought a standard poodle one time, but had to let it go because he thought it would harm his young daughters.
My cousin in California had a substandard (smaller) poodle she named Tawny. That little girl had the unique ability to catch a thrown ball just after it made a bounce. She had many puppies and could swim like a fish. None of her puppies could do that bounce catch like her.
When my cousin died in her bed. Four of Tawny's puppies guarded her with their lives when they came to remove the body.
