JACARANDA IN DREAMS

I opened the curtains, you call them drapes
on the heaviest morning of cold Scottish rain
(no drought here)

I looked at the garden and suddenly wished there
was a Jacaranda tree down there,
some fine specimen from Corfu, or Malta,
or California - big purple flowers
of singular beauty

Sure, there were apples with red rosy cheeks
Hydrangeas, mop-heads, like Nottingham lace

I saw Buddleias shaking in the wind;
The bees have been visiting all summer,

Buddleia Santana for them,
but no Jacaranda

I first saw them in the Robin Williams film,
What Dreams May Come - I couldn't believe my eyes.

Are Jacaranda invasive? I certainly hope so.

A very interesting wish list from Scotland were many wish to visit, but perhaps, not to live.

I only saw a Jacaranda tree in bloom once. At my brother's place in Phoenix. It doesn't appear to be invasive, but likes the warmer regions of the US of A. Perhaps in my backyard.

Climate change is causing a great migration and Scotland is one of the destinations. So is Australia. Australia is probably having more migrate to its best continent than any other place on the Earth.

Our president is claiming to love workers while throwing out all of our migrant workers. Is that a contradiction? Sure is.
