Beyond The Far Horizon

I have seen the gold smoke burning
The morning mountain alert
Drinking up the fiery rainbow
of the Sun God's pearling lips

I have seen the clouds come sweeping
over the vast and empty plain
Shedding stars of crystal teardrops
that the Earth drank up in vain

I have seen the sleeping child awaken
to the dark silence of his room
And gaze in rapt enchantment
to the spilling silver wash of Moon

I have stood in lonely attention
and listened to my dreams
I have walked my farthest vision
upon shores no longer seen

I have ridden the midnight horses
of fear and trembling touch
To wait in muted wondering
whilst I taste the crimson cup

I have come running blind and eager
to greet the rushing dawn
As the spear of empty hours
impaled me upon a thorn

I have seen the clouds come sweeping
over the vast and empty plain
Crying splintered crystal teardrops
that I shed, so long in pain

And who will call my name
A poet of broken verse
And who will call my name.
