No, I most certainly do not know anyone like this. Perish the thought! This is merely a poetic flight of fancy. (Besides, I went to Princeton, not Yale.)
How mah-valous, really, it must to be
a callous sophisticate. Look and see!
Intelligent, rich, with a Yale degree
and cavalier attitude. That’s the key.
A callous sophisticate needs be bold.
Disdainful. Assertive. Wear only gold.
Would never depart the elitist fold,
‘cause mingling with peons gets really old.
A callous sophisticate must dress well.
To wear polyester is lowbrow Hell.
Don’t ever say “Huh?” but instead, “Do tell!”
Insouciant hubris will always sell.
The callous sophisticate feels no doubt.
Cannot be disturbed by a fool or lout.
Will never resort to a curse or pout,
instead greeting all with a hoisted snout.
The callous sophisticate knows it all.
As long as there’s money, why, life’s a ball.
Ignore what is written upon the wall:
“Remember that pride goes before the fall.”
