I wish Johann Strauss could arise from the grave and write me a dreamy melody for this...

Industrial Sludge over here, over there,
ruining oceans, befouling our air.
Please, don't just sit on your butt in that chair!
Deplore, don't ignore,
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge comes from oil in the street,
mountains of junkfood we eat and excrete,
tastefully simmered for weeks in the heat.
Mellow, brown-yellow,
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge is trucked far from the city,
pumped underground where the countryside's pretty.
Suddenly tap-water tastes kind of gritty.
Gooey but chewy
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge is dumped far, far at sea,
out where the EPA spoilsports can't see
fish kills extending a square mile or three.
Unclean, but unseen,
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge!
Danger, Harmful Corrosive.
Devil's own fudge,
minor-level explosive.
Brought to us all with a wink and a nudge
by the gents who get rich from
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge catches men off their guards,
geysering forth unannounced in backyards,
coating the grandmas who sit playing cards.
Tricky, and sticky,
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge stored where everyone knows
the poisons leach out when the creek overflows.
Downstream babes bleed from the ears and the nose.
Fatal pre-natal
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge is no product of need.
It comes black and stinking from corporate greed,
'cause de-toxing byproducts ain't in their creed.
Flaunted, unwanted
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge makes me madder than Hell.
Hope it makes some of you angry as well.
Really, I don't want to die of the smell!
Plan it: Let's ban it,
Industrial Sludge.

Industrial Sludge!
Despoiler of beauty;
liquid McSmudge,
extra-thick heavy-duty.
Brought to us all with a wink and a nudge
by the gents who get rich from
Industrial Sludge.

A most apt, timely, and meaningful ranting waltz, lolanthe. I hear you loudly and clearly. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Quite a waltz, Lannie, but I'm not sure we need Strauss...more of a Ravel waltz to match your strength and vision.
Fine work.

I get the rhythim and the message, but I heard a Delbert McClintock twang going on...at any rate message is the same it's damn shame we even have the problem.

Cheers,
Dan
