Poem Artwork

My marrow flows
Like a gentle river
Through mine own time,
A fluid history,
One might conclude,
Of those who’ve gone before.

I’ve shed and I’ve gathered
And added to the score,
Pitching forward
To those yet to be,
This
All done blindly,
Save faith and fables
In the night,
No guide
By hand
Shows the way.

I feel the flavors
Of generations past,
I see them at times
In my dreams,
All nurtured are we
In this same pool of life,
Casting our signature
Within the grand matrix,
Which ties us all
Inevitably,
To one.

Simmers lightly
The marrow,
The primordial broth
Of man,
Ever defining
In our progressive seasons,
Our heritable character
Through time.

And so we weave
Through the millennia,
Not knowing with clarity
Our end,
But as we
Forever
Find singular identity,
So to,
With all humanity
We unite.

I love the picture, Frank. Are those plaitlets? (I'm sure I do not know how to spell that word), or dried apricots?... No matter, it's essentially the same. I used to love to think about water that way-- each drip of water collecting to make a whole-- side-by-side droplets that clung together for hundreds of miles might eventually find their ways to opposite corners of the globe-- one to find itself frozen in Antarctica, and the other, on a beach in Hawaii. Then one day, the sun sucks them up in the same breath, and they flutter down over Greenland together, that evening, and are formed into snowman eyes the next day..... ?

love it, Frank...
Individuals, yet all united...so, so true! If only we could remember that in our actions as well.
