Someone has said somewhere
The first impression
Of a really great work of art
Is always unnerving
To the point of painfulness.
It is the fate of the great artist
To be misunderstood, and so
It is a true artist's lot. Ultimately,
One who has been a great artist,
Is surely greatly misunderstood.
But what price greatness?
Let me say. Greatness is often
The term we confer on what
We do not understand
And wish to have done with.
Between being well understood,
However, and being called great,
An artist would have preferred the former,
And it would have been better
For anybody else all round.
But how is a true artist to be understood?
This question remains to be open:
Who could be his or her interpreters?
Who could know the inner world
Of a true artist -- the world's greatest plot?
Who else but only one who is below and above
Of what is known as the world's greatest plot.
It seems that every twirl of the brush or any consistencies in his work are meaningful. His colors and words spoke LOUD WORDS yes they could speak the invisible word.
I love van Gogh's work. I have bought some shopping bags with his paintings imprinted on them from the art gallery. I treat those bags as valuable as his paintings.
For an impressionist, van Gogh's self-portrait is remarkably realistic.
Just the other day, an artist that I happen to know and own one of his stellar works, wrote me an email. It was obvious from his paintings that he was going blind because the quality of his work deteriorated as he lost his sight. I was fortunate to acquire The Emperor and Empress (shown in his Gallery--scroll far down), before his work deteriorated. I toured his home when I picked up my purchase. It was a penthouse suite in a high-rise condo building. He wanted me to buy some of his other pieces, but I could not afford them.
Although his name is Eric C. Peterson, he prefers to go by the name of Yonah. His plot, or strategy was/is that he is a blind artist. Unfortunately, he had to leave that expensive apartment for a ground-floor home for his kids. Last year during hurricane Harvey's floods, he lost 22 of those paintings and his home. He wrote me that the value of mine had increased immensely as a result. I encourage others to spread his legend and purchase his paintings online… He no longer can paint and needs your help.
