Almost everybody has experienced a relationship where things start going wrong. In times like these, all too frequently, misunderstanding confuses the issue and things like jobs, necessities of life and circumstance add fuel to the fire. This poem came from a real experience. And we talk
Exchange words
At least
Yet what of communication
How does one stop
Cartwheels of misunderstanding
That crazed pirouette
Which sends rampant displeasure
To enshroud our days
I see your love
Through chinks
In a massive wall of ego
I feel the coarse imperfection
Of my own humanness
And wonder
If I'm understood
Forgiven
Demands
Which are not mine
Rather those
Of survival
Misrepresent my yearnings
Enmesh us both
In mundane necessities
Of reality
Surely
Frail winged
Enchantment of fantasy
Cannot forever
Be taken
As actuality
Maybe we
Should listen
Between lines
And let our actions
Truly speak
What we mean
