‘Use your time wisely

It is not for you to waste’

‘Regret can last a long time

If you should act in haste’

‘Every day is important

Along the path we walk’

‘Every word connects somehow

With another as you talk’

‘Time will always pass’

My mother said to me

Now many years have sped

Since her life ceased to be

Her physical contact is no more

Since her body could not repair

But when I am in dire need

Those words are like a prayer

‘You should become a doctor’

A teacher told me one day

He simply said those words

Then went quickly on his way

I thought it would be impossible

But the idea began to grow

Then became reality

Forty years of work did show

‘It’s what you do, not who you are

To others be always kind’

Are the few words of wisdom

That I would leave behind

Will anybody listen?

And take these words to heart?

If they were the universal code

Lives would never be torn apart
