The hidden secret
I can tell you,
The pain continued on and on
And then within my head
I had a thought, I didn’t like
‘I wish that I was dead’
You see,
The pain was not for just an hour
Or even many days
But unremitting for several years
Unforgiving in its ways
One day,
I was given a distant view
Of angels, all in tears
Crying at my distress, trying to
Give comfort for my fears
But,
The pain continued on and on
And still within my head
That thought returned, very strong
‘I wish that I was dead’
Deliberately,
I thought of those I loved
Whom I could not betray
By leaving them to grieve
I must manage another day
But,
One day, I couldn’t stop crying
I’d used all resources that I knew
Nothing left to keep me going
Then, I was given a different view
Clearly,
I saw a shining light
It was hidden deep within
Held in two hands by a child
Then, I knew that I would win
So,
I searched and found the inner me
Who said ‘I wish that I was dead’
I showed her this vision from
The dark place in my head
Listen,
‘To find that little child at length
You were made to travel
Into the worst pain of this world
It’s knowledge to unravel’
Then,
I held the sad girl’s little hand
Quietly, together we talked
We had found the child, with her light
My pain eased as we walked
With joy,
The little girl who cried
And wished that she was dead
Finally knew the one she had lost
Had been alive, but hidden instead
I think
There is a moral to this story
Never give up, though dark the night
Keep courage, love and kindness
Let them lead you to your light
