A 'black hole'

A lighthearted poem - this will eventually be in a new book entitled 'Glimpses'.

This poem is going to be in a new book called 'Glimpses', which is a 'work in gradual progress'. These are short poems giving vignettes of life - few words that say a lot.

Our  'black hole'

I have read about a 'black hole'

'A triangle', out at sea

But to my surprise, I think I've found

One that relates to me

Recently things have gone missing

And a thorough search I've made

Helped by others, so not only me

But these things our eyes evade

I retraced my footsteps

Where had my glasses gone?

I was at home, in just two rooms

Yet the deed was done

I looked behind and in the drawers

Under the mattress and the bed

But, not even a tiny glimpse

Was noted in my head

I bought a special birthday card

Put it in my usual place

But, when I came to write it

I only found a space

Had I sent it early?

I asked-' no, it didn't arrive'

I search, but it has disappeared

You would think it was alive

The jumper and gilet are

Much bigger things to lose

We don't have a big house

So, few cupboards we can choose

But, they are not anywhere

I've search high and low

I've decided we've a 'black hole'

So, am letting others know

Just in case....

The first things that disappear are names, followed closely by objects, and then when what we are.

I certainly had a few chuckles as I read your inspired revelation about your universe being inhabited by one of those pesky critters from outer space.

I.ve searched for thins that disappeared,
I've even went through the trash.
Where did it go? It was just here,
then gone in a flash.

A very fun read that we all can relate to.

Fun to read..!
In my child's book many years ago...I remember reading a poem where things were always going missing and the guilt was assigned to 'Mr Somebody'...ie ' Somebody's' moved my jumper... etc...
I wonder where the items have gone? If it's any consolation..same things happen to me too!
Best wishes with your new book...
Diana...
